Pre-Conference Tours

1. North – West Hungary – three days visit

1-3 October 2021

The tour starts from Budapest. Travel to Győr and visit 2 goat farms which are in contact with each other. First visit a large family dairy goat farm – then you are welcome to a pleasant lunch. You will be only 10 minutes from the next venue where you can visit a goat-sheep-cow milk processing company – based on buying up milk. In the late afternoon travel to Sümeg and visit the Castle. Dinner and accommodation will be in Sümeg – at the foot of the seven hundred years old Castle Sümeg – where you should immerse yourself in the world of spa and wellness.

The next day starts with 2 technical visits. First you should visit a Hungarian Native goat farm which is conducted by a woman in Sümeg. After that you will see a family owned dairy goat farm with milk processing unit in Kisvásárhely. In the afternoon travel to Herend and visit the Majolika factory, one of the most famous Hungarian „porcelan” factories (the program includes lunch). Travel forward to Veszprém, to the „Town of Queens”. After a sightseeing walk in the castle check into the hotel. Dinner and accommodation will be in Veszprém in the picturesque valley at the foot of the Viaduct.

On the third day travel to Csetény. Visit a French Alpine Goats breeder who has been breeding only this variety since 1993. Have lunch in Etyek, where wine lovers will feel like home. At the next stop, you can taste the world-famous cheeses of a goat cheese factory in Etyek. In the late afternoon travel to your final destination, to Eger.

2. Mid – South – East Hungary – three days visit

1-3 October 2021

The tour starts from Budapest. Travel to Izsák and visit one of the biggest goat farms with milk processing factory. Continue for lunch to Bugac. The restaurant preserves the traditions of folk architecture and gives you the romantic mood of the Hungarian Plain. After lunch you will visit the National Park with old indigenous species of animals. In the late afternoon travel to Kecskemét – an old-new town having the name of goat in its name, goat means kecske in Hungarian. Dinner and accommodation in Kecskemét.

On the next day visit a goat farm which is conducted by a woman. After the visit travel to Szeged. The present image of Szeged is defined by the constructions after the Great Flood in 1879, which occurred in the spirit of Art Nouveau, and as a result Szeged has become a city of palaces. After lunch in Szeged travel to Magyardombegyháza. The small village became a Cheese Village with the power of community and with some goats. After a total bankruptcy the community started goat farming, then the public workers built a cheese factory and the Cheese Village was born. Continue in Szarvas. Dinner and accommodation will be in Szarvas, in a small waterfront town with magnificent natural givens.

Start the third day in a nice environment, walk around the Arboretum of Szarvas, and also Mini-Hungary. After the sightseeing walk travel to Nagykörű, where you will be invited for lunch. The village is a goat milk based cheese route station, and also has a special country house and museum. In the late afternoon travel to your final destination, to Eger.
